A clearer starting point for your next handle

Instagram username checker

Check a handle, find name ideas, and build a shortlist. A result is a public-profile signal, never a promise of registration.

Public signal lookup

Check one handle

Free live checks cover 3 names per UTC day for each browser and network.

A found public profile or a missing one is a signal, not a reservation.
We never ask for your Instagram password, cookies, or login session.

Read the result

Four outcomes. Only one is a profile signal.

A valid format is a starting point. A provider error is not an availability result. Keep the uncertainty visible in your list.

Public profile found

A lookup found a profile using this handle. Treat it as occupied until you confirm elsewhere.

No public profile found

A lookup found no visible profile. Instagram may still refuse the name; this is not a reservation.

Format needs a change

The input does not pass our basic format review. Fix it before checking a public profile.

Unknown or not checked

A timeout, missing row, or provider limit stays unknown. Unknown never means available.

Find a variation that sounds like you.

Keep the recognizable part. Add a useful word, try a separator, or go short. Every suggestion starts unchecked.

Remove duplicates, review formats, query public profiles, and export a CSV. No automatic claims or name changes.

Review a list
01

Make it easy to say.

If someone hears your handle, can they type it? A clear spelling is a useful starting point.

02

Keep name and handle distinct.

Your display name and @handle serve different purposes. This tool works with the profile handle.

03

Confirm it where it counts.

Only Instagram can accept a username. Review the actual save or confirmation screen before changing your account.

Questions about username checks

Can this tool tell me if a username is available?+

A live check returns a public-profile signal. A found profile and no public profile found are different observations; neither reserves a username. Instagram alone decides whether it can be registered.

Do I need an account?+

No. Local format review, name generation, and CSV export are free without an account. Live checks are limited and depend on the shared site budget and supplier availability.

Are generated names already checked?+

No. Every generated suggestion is marked unchecked. Choose the names you like and review them individually or in the bulk workspace.

Why can a missing profile still be refused?+

A public profile can be hidden, disabled, or otherwise absent from a supplier result without establishing Instagram's full acceptance decision. Keep alternatives and confirm the final action in Instagram.

Can I look up former usernames?+

This version does not retrieve username history. A change count is not a list of old names, and no third-party checker should ask for your Instagram password or session cookies.

What happens to the names I enter?+

Generation and format review run locally. An explicit live check sends selected names to our server and Apify. Browser-tab drafts hold your input and request reference; clear draft removes the local copy. The privacy page explains cookies, limits, and retention.

Start with a clearer shortlist.

Review the handle format locally, check a public signal when it is available, and keep a record of what still needs confirmation.
